Good morning Montevallo.
Now that the campaign season is over and the ballots are cast, I continue to rally around what makes Montevallo a wonderful City. It is our ability to come together in service of one another. This is who I am. I appreciate the efforts of Joyce Jones and her campaign to give our City the ability to choose between candidates who all love this City.
As your new mayor-elect, I want to say thank you for the support of this campaign and the ideals we espouse. These ideals are borne from the notion that everyone is welcome to participate in our civic life. To participate, even in disagreement, without fear of reprisal, retaliation or being otherwise cancelled. We stand firmly on the ideals of people ready to have us be a #MontevalloUnited. A Montevallo united to face the challenges of the present and preparing for an even brighter future.
I stated early on that I believe in transparency, accountability, engagement and diplomacy. Over the course of my 3+ decades in our City, this is who you know me to be. You can expect me to continue to conduct the affairs of this City in this fashion and I welcome you to reach out if you think otherwise. I am the Mayor for everyone in our City and its’ stakeholders. I will now continue to do all in my abilities to keep the support of those who voted for me while also earning the support of those that did not.
There will be no room for identity politics within this administration, we are #MontevalloUnited.
I believe our best days are ahead of us and am humbled by the support given me in this campaign. The confidence you have shown by allowing me to be your mayor will daily be the motivation to do the right thing.
